How to Use a Carpet Cleaning Machine

Carpets can be cleaned manually or by using machines. Whilst there are many cleaning companies offering specialist carpet cleaning services, you may decide that you wish to give it a go by yourself. The first thing you need to do is get a hold of a carpet cleaning machine. These can be purchased from cleaning stores, online and certain large supermarkets and outlets. Alternatively, you may wish to hire these machines out for a few hours or days, depending on how many carpets you need to clean. Hire shops will have these, as will certain department stores, and they may even provide you with the cleaning solution that is complementary to the machine that you have hired.

In terms of cleaning, the first thing you need to do is ensure that the room is completely empty, or as empty as is possible You may not be able to move large fitted wardrobes or filling cabinets in the study room, so do not worry if your room cannot be emptied completely. Emptying the room as much as possible will allow you to cover a larger surface area, meaning that more of your carpet will be cleaned. It also avoids any obvious signs of having cleaned your carpet such as dirty patches etc.

Next, you need to remove the plastic tank that is attached to the carpet cleaner. This is where the cleaning solution will be prepared. It is always recommended that you remove this and prepare the solution over the sink or in the bath – somewhere where you do not have to worry about making too much of a mess.

Regardless of whether you purchase or hire a carpet cleaning machine, you will find that you will get the instructions you require to work it and prepare it. Read all of the instructions and familiarise yourself with the cleaning machine. Cleaning products will also have information and instructions on its label, so always be sure to read those too. Hey will give you crucial bits of information such as dilution guidance etc.

Now it is time to prepare the solution. Always do this directly in the tank and make sure that you follow the instructions correctly. Do not assume that using more carpet cleaning solution will make the carpet cleaner and always stick to the recommended amount on the labels. Secure the tank back onto the cleaning machine according to the instructions and make sure that it is fastened down correctly.

Now you are ready to switch on your machine and get to work. Simply release the button that releases the cleaner (this can be from a spray nozzle or be released automatically from the bottom of the machine). Slowly glide the carpet cleaning machine over the area you wish to clean. Be sure to take your time to allow the machine to clean each fibre properly.

Once you have cleaned the carpet, you need to allow the carpet to dry completely before you can start putting your items back. Opening windows, turning on the central heating or running fans is a great way of speeding up the drying process. When the carpets are fully dry, you can move your furniture back in and enjoy your clean carpet in the perfect way.

Clean carpets brighten up any room and makes it look so much more appealing. Using a carpet cleaning machine can be a lot easier than getting down on your hands and knees. If buying is not an option, you can simply rent a machine, so you have no excuse not to clean your carpets!
