Clean Your Bathroom Regularly

Your bathroom can often be neglected from your daily cleaning ritual. It can seem like a real chore to get round to doing but it’s actually one of the quickest rooms to clean. By following a few easy steps you can really keep your bathroom and toilet in top form; looking and smelling as fresh and clean as a daisy. Here are a few tips and tricks to get you started:

•    Make sure you have a collection of good cleaning products whether they are shop bought or home made. This should include bleach, sprays, wipes, gloves, sponges, brushes, a mop and a bucket. Also an all-purpose cleaner and a cream-based product are both brilliant for bathroom-use.

•    Start working from the surfaces, countertops and basins. These will collect grub and dirt really easily so need regular attention and care. Scrub away shampoo and toothpaste stains and rinse clean with water from a bucket or the shower hose. That’s the great thing about cleaning your bathroom, you have the water there to clean and rinse it.

•    Polish the mirrors free of grub and grime by using some kitchen roll or paper towel, water and window or glass spray. Avoid using wipes on windows and mirrors as this will cause unwanted smears. Finish with a dry cloth to add extra shine.

•    Rinse down your shower and bath regularly to avoid build-up of dirt and debris. Spray these surfaces as often as you can, as they need to stay as clean as possible. Soak stubborn stains for best results and to wipe away stains easily.

•    Ensure you replace bath towels and mats on a regular basis, at least once every two weeks at the maximum. This will maintain the hygiene of your bathroom, especially if you have regular guests and family visits.

•    Remember to spray the walls and doors as well as handles too. These areas really collect germs after toilet-use especially do it’s important you don’t forget to clean these. A good high street disinfectant should do the trick.

•    Clean your toilet with a good strong bleach and leave to soak for at least 10 minutes or overnight. Check the label for their recommended timings. Use a toilet brush to scrub the inside basin of the toilet and flush away once finished, you can rinse the brush with this water too.

•    Use loo roll to clean the toilet seat and lid, as this is a sanitary way of disposing after use, rather than using the same cloths or sponges. Loo roll can then be flushed away.

•    Don’t forget to regularly sweep and mop the floor to keep it looking its best. This is best done during the day when it can air-dry. Open the windows for an extra airing.

•    Invest in some air fresheners to keep your bathroom and loo smelling as pleasant as possible. Flowers are also a lovely touch, they look as great as they smell, but watch out for fallen leaves and pollen.

•    Remember to always wear gloves when cleaning your bathroom with bleach-based products. Always follow the instructions on products you use to avoid irritating your skin or discolouring your clothing.

•    Wear old clothing for cleaning your bathroom and toilet areas as this will involve a lot of leaning down and you don’t want to damage your nicer gear.
